Interior:
Ashanti s lovely double teak doors to bring you into the salon from the aft deck. This space is large and open and easily fits its sofa, lounge chair and side table next to the warmth of the oil stove. There is a small storage cabinet which also has a countertop for placing a lamp or other accessories. This space is bright and airy with its large windows. Window shades provide privacy at your fingertips. Forward of the salon is a fantastic U-shaped galley, starting with a large breakfast counter with two swivel stools. When not using this space for eating or displaying appetizers and drinks, it is an excellent food preparation space. The galley has a large two-basin sink, a three-burner Princess gas range, a microwave inset into the wall next to the large, home-sized side-by-side Kenmore refrigerator. A built-in pantry cabinet is across the companionway, as well as a bookcase. The pantry top can house a large appliance like an air fryer, a coffee maker, or both. The bookcase can hold books or additional kitchen items. The pilothouse is up a few steps from the main cabin area and is fantastic place from which to enjoy your cruise. There is a large settee in this area with a huge table that has a flip-up panel so the captain can swivel the helm chair around and this becomes a dining table for everyone. Storage and bookshelves are in the wall aft of the settee, which also converts into a double berth at night. The helm is quite noble with its large wood ships wheel and electronics and gauges on angled panels within very short reach. Side doors on both port and starboard give you easy access to the side decks and the Portuguese bridge. Stairs from the pilothouse take you aft and up to the flybridge and another curved set moves you down and forward into the bow where you will find two staterooms and two heads. In the bow, there are two over/under seven-foot single berths. There is lots of storage and a hanging closet. Aft is one of two heads, each with a shower and VacuFlush commodes, storage, and ample counterspace. Aft is the large, yet cozy main stateroom is midships and takes advantage of the full beam of the vessel. It has a very nice walk-around double berth with night tables, reading lamps, cabinets, drawers, shelves, a dressing table and more. Its ensuite bathroom has plenty of knee room. She has a 400-gallon water than, a generous 20-gallon hot water heater, and her holding tank holds a total of 70 gallons. This is a beauty with richly warm teak parquet flooring and fine teak woodwork from top to bottom. She also has air conditioning for those long summer days.
On Deck:
Come aboard this beauty easily from the dock through her access doors on both port and starboard. You can also access her from the swim deck and a transom door. Her aft covered deck is a welcome spot to relax and enjoy the passing seascape or maybe a nice "al fresco dining. She was outfitted with new full aft canvass enclosure in 2015 and side curtains extend up along the covered side decks. This creates a nice sunroom during the times of years when the weather is still cool. The bridge atop the pilothouse gives the best possible view of waters for sight navigation and sightseeing. Access this deck from the cockpit ladder or directly from the pilothouse. Her long boat deck will easily accommodate a 12-foot tender. A flybridge enclosure was also new in 2015 and a new bimini was installed five years ago. The flybridge helm has a grand centerline swivel captain s chair and a large L-shaped settee behind it where several friends and family can also enjoy the cruise. A hatch opens up and takes you into the pilothouse and to the Portuguese bridge access. The bow deck is easy to access through the Portuguese bridge door. Railing around the bow offers safety for folks enjoying this large space. If you travel with pets or children or folks getting used to cruising, the solid walls all around the boat and behind the Portuguese bridge offer ultimate confidence. This package also comes with an Electradyne pot puller. This is a very sharp-looking, extremely versatile deck system.
Engine and Mechanical:
The power behind Ashanti is her single 2002 Perkins M265T1 265 horsepower diesel engine with only 3,148 hours on it. She cruises at 8 knots and has a top speed of 9 knots. Her four steel fuel tanks generously carry a total of 1,000 gallons of diesel. She has hydraulic steering at both helms and wheel controls, with a five-blade propeller -- and a spare -- and wet heat exchange cooling. The engine room on this gal is large, clean, and has a grand amount of workspace and tool storage. Her Sidepower electric bow thruster makes an easy task of docking this grand gal. For anchoring, you have a CQR anchor on a Maxwell 2200 electric winch with 400 feet of chain. Come aboard her and see, she has been well maintained and has her stuff together!
Electrical and Electronics:
Ashanti plugs into 30- and 50-amp shore power when at the dock and has a Westerbeke 10kw diesel generator set with 1,098 hours on it for when you are at sea. She has two 8D start batteries and a three 8D battery housebank and a Pro Mariner 20 battery charger and alternator to keep them sparking. At the main helm, as well as the flybridge, you have a breadth of navigation and communication electronics at the ready, including Raymarine and Garmin GPS units, a Garmin GPS map plotter, a Raymarine and an Interphase depth sounder, and a Standard Horizon VHF. You also have a Raymarine R80 radar, a Raymarine Autohelm auto pilot, and a Magellan Nav 5000 handheld GPS receiver. Your musical entertainment is nicely attended to by a Sony MD/CD stereo system with speakers inside and outside. Ashanti also has the features and systems you would expect on a vessel of this caliber, including essentials like electric windshield wipers and forward-facing spotlights.
