David Franz - Owner - Manager

As the dynamic owner of ABB David Franz began his love of Alaska in Oregon. A love of fishing the Oregon rivers for salmon and settled naturally led him to Alaska.  After his first visit he continued to visit Alaska for over 20 years while managing  his small business in Montana until the lure of Alaska finally hooked him and he moved here permanently in 2009. His love of Alaska, its people and boats led him to then purchase ABB from the gentleman who sold him his first Alaskan boat, and has been thoroughly enjoying traveling to Alaskan communities and beyond to meet new people and their boats. Dedicated and loyal, David is known for his integrity and honesty as well as an exceptional work ethic. In his off time he still enjoys fishing with friends and family.

Jim Bower - From Portland, Oregon to Vancouver, BC

Jim’s addiction to boats started in 1955, when he ordered Chris Craft and Huckins brochures.  He spent countless hours engrossed in this dream while carefully avoiding all academic pursuits.  He taught sailing in San Francisco and bought and played with canoes, kayaks, sailboats, and outboard runabouts.  After finding economic success he grew into a 22’ C-Dory Cruiser, a Camano 28, and then a Nordic Tug 42, enjoying an opportunity to cruise with friends and explore the Puget Sound and Desolation Sound. Eight years ago, Jim decided to go for the gusto and started his own boat building business.  He built high-end aluminum boats from 20-32’.  Now is the time to take the knowledge gained from years of boating and boat building experience and help boat sellers and buyers make informed choices.
